As homeschooling parents, we often tout flexibility as one of our favorite benefits of homeschooling. We should extend that flexibility to our children as well. There are certainly non-negotiables in every home and every homeschool, but there is also room for some latitude in allowing our children to make their own decisions. Giving our children reasonable freedom for making some of these decisions provides them the opportunity to take ownership of their educations and helps them begin to lay the groundwork for developing effective time-management skills.(more)
