In early May, the Panama City Renaissance School, Griffin Design Firm and the Visual Arts Center sponsored a Contemporary and Latin American Art Show. The show was a comparative study of art from Latin America and US with the additional contrast of visual expression from adults and children.

The opening reception was held on Friday, May 2. The reception featured music by Gilligan Loves MaryAnn and included hors d’oeuvres and beverages. The exhibition was also open to the public Sunday, May 4 and Monday, May 5.

The show featured original works by well-known Latin American artists from Guatemala, Mexico and Ecuador including Carlos Merida (Guatemala) and Jose Luis Cuevas (Mexico). Other well-known artists included Paul Brent (USA), Marco Bustamante (Mexico), Guillermo Canseco (Mexico), Kim Griffin (USA), Washington Iza (Ecuador), Rosy Revelo (Ecuador), Alejandro Santiago (Mexico), Alvaro Santiago (Mexico), Porter Thrower (USA) and Carl Webb (USA). The show also included works by all the children attending the Panama City Renaissance School.
