Renascence School International Students Perform at WOW Event!

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson Some of the students from the Renascence School International participated in an event that the St. Andrew Episcopal Church held on Wednesday, May 9. The WOW event provides fellowship between parishioners and the church staff. The church is very proud of having the school on their grounds and asked  for a few of our students to come and perform at this event. The students sang a song in Chinese called “Plant the Sun”. This song is about a kid who has a beautiful wish to plant the sun and they will grow. The boy wishes to grow lots of suns and send them to the North and South Poles and hang the sun in the winter and at night. This song displays the idea that kids want every corner of the world to be bright and warm.  Thank you to those students who sang!  They did a beautiful...

Renascence School Level 20 Class Earns Trip to the Science and Discovery Center!

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson Each week students at the Renascence School International work hard in their language immersion classes to try and not speak any English. The Level 20 Class was not only able speak strictly Chinese in all three of their Chinese classes (Chinese language, Math & Science) but they did it for two weeks in a row!  As a reward for their hard work, Mrs. Stahl arranged a surprise field trip for them to the Panama City Science and Discovery Center!  Parents and teachers were able to keep it a secret until the day of the event!  Students had so much fun hiking the nature trail, and engaging in all kinds of fun science experiments and gadgets.  They were even able to go in the reptile room and see the spiders, snakes, lizards etc… that are part of the museum reptile exhibit.  This was a favorite for many of the students!  The children were able to practice their writing skills and wrote thank you letters to the Science and Discovery Center.  Congratulations to the Level 20 Class for all of your hard work in earning ‘Foreign Language Expert Recognition’!               ...

Renascence School International celebrates Spanish spring festival!

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson There are many Latin festivals celebrated during the spring months. Spanish festivals are filled with music, dancing, food and Spanish culture. The students at the Renascence School International were celebrating in their own way with classmates and their Spanish teacher on Friday, March 23rd. This gives them the opportunity to learn more about the Spanish culture as well as having  some good, old fashioned fun. Mrs. Perkins had games planned and students enjoyed playing outside in the sun. The games included relay races that included some funny dressing up. Only a few of the kids were brave enough to be the one in the costume! Afterwards the children enjoyed a special snack and learned some more about the Spanish culture and spring festival traditions.      ...
