Outside the Box – Juliann Talkington

Enrichment Program students learned about the cultural significance of Cinco de Mayo. They colored sombreros and used them for a traditional Mexican hat dance. Children learned that Cinco de Mayo is a day that Mexican people celebrate their independence from Spain. Participants also learned about other Mexican folk dances such as the Mexican agricultural dance created by the Aztecs, the Dance of the Deer, and also Baile Folklorico.
