If you’re the parent of a preschool or elementary school student, chances are that you’ve already heard the term “phonics” thrown around when it comes to teaching early reading skills. That’s because phonics is the usual approach that most teachers now use to teach reading to young children. Why? Because phonics teaches children how to read by first teaching them how to identify the individual letter sounds in words then teaches the child how to blend multiple sounds together and form words.
