Outside the Box – Christy Johnson

We all want our children to grow up with the best possible skills and experiences to prepare them for the global world we live in. We want them to have 21st century skills which include communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

At the Renascence School International our goal is to provide our students with a rigorous academic program that also allows them the opportunity to become multilingual at a time when learning a second language does more than just better prepare them for the future.

Research has shown that learning a second language has many benefits for children. It has been shown to improve the brain’s executive function which is responsible for alternating among key tasks and focusing. It has also been shown to strengthen cognitive muscles as it forces the brain to resolve internal conflict. Learning a second language has been shown to help academic achievement in other subjects as well, such as reading, science and math.

By learning a second language, your child will be more prepared for a bright future. Language learning will enhance your child’s opportunities and marketability as well as give them a better ability to communicate with others and have a broader cultural view of the world. Language empowers children and will create opportunities for them that we cannot even imagine!
